If you ask me, the WRAL Azalea Gardens are the best hidden gem in Raleigh, NC. Located just behind the WRAL Television studios near North Carolina State, this quiet park is full of lush flowers once the weather starts to heat up. You can head to their website and see a live view of the space so you can see what’s in bloom this week. The gardens themselves take up about 1.5 acres, with the total area of the grounds resting on 5 acres. The best part? They are totally free and always open to the public!

Just next door, the JC Raulston Arboretum gives you a nationally acclaimed botanical garden with a huge variety of plants in Raleigh, NC! The students at North Carolina State University have spent years developing their plants to be adapted to the Southeast United States. As you wander around, you are going to find plenty of wildflowers as well as plants from all across the globe! The gardens are free to access.

The space welcomes you to use the grounds for your photo session as long as you have a permit (candid, personal pictures are always allowed!).
