If sunflowers are your kind of thing, Dix Park is going to be your ideal spot. These flower fields go wild all throughout July, giving you gorgeous backdrops for your Raleigh, NC, portraits. The area is completely free to visit and is open seven days a week. They allow professional photography sessions but will require a commercial photography permit (your photographer will know what to do). Pets are allowed on a leash, and they do have on-site restrooms.

Juniper Creek Farm is a lovely flower field with a really good cause in Raleigh, NC. This is a youth-run project that specializes in photo backdrops. Throughout the summer season, you will be able to choose between wildflowers and sunflowers. Then, once fall hits, you will have golden fields complete with a vintage blue truck in the backdrop. You will have two different locations to choose from. They do have a photography fee and operate by appointment only.

2110 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27607
While the interior of the North Carolina Museum of Art might be known for its masterpieces, the exterior is its own work of art. This flower field is lovingly maintained by the Raleigh, NC, museum to give you a quiet place to reflect on nature. As you explore the 164 acres, you are going to see things like interactive exhibits, the museum pond, dense trees, a woodland trail, and the volunteer garden. Your photographer will need to get prior permission before using this area for your session.

3833 Millard Whitley Rd, Chapel Hill, North Carolina 27516
If you prefer lavender, you are going to fall deeply in love with Lavender Oaks Farm. This is a 60-acre property that has been planted and maintained by Robert and Karen Macdonald using sustainable farming practices. They love getting to share their little slice of heaven with North Carolina and make it super easy to use their fields. They don’t have a photography fee, but they do ask that you tag them in your pics. This area is available only by appointment.
